Suggestions Through 10/23/14
"Thank you so much for the letter soup and the stars soup. They were delicious!!"
Comfort food! So glad you are enjoying :-)
"Could you get the Chobani simply 100 yogurt(especially the key lime flavor)? Its less heavy than the normal ones."
Sure. We'll do our best to rotate in the Simply 100 along with the other varieties of Chobani, as well as Muller yogurts. Just a reminder: Sometimes we are at the mercy of our suppliers and what they have available, particularly with yogurt.
"Can we please get agave nectar in the marketplace? I would love something other than brown sugar to sweeten my oatmeal or to add to yogurt."
As of 10/23 we have placed a container of Agave Nectar on the west condiment stand - enjoy. But please leave it at the station. If it disappears it may not be replaced - it's much more expensive than other sweeteners ;-)
[Tiger Cooler] "As a vegan, the to-go sandwich and veggie container options are very limited. May I suggest more vegan sandwiches with veggies (besides PB&J and hummus) and offering the broccoli, carrots, and apple containers plain (with the dips optional on the side)? Whenever I buy the packaged veggies I end up wasting the ranch dressing that I can't eat but have to buy anyway."
Look for the occasional vegan "Sandwich of the Day" at the Cooler. We are also happy to discuss putting in some new standard vegan sandwich options with our cold food production team - and you may see a change or two. As for the ranch dressing, did you know you may exchange your ranch dressing for peanut butter or tajin and lemon at the cash register?
[Tiger Cooler] "Are the chocolate chip bagels vegan? Is it safe to assume that all other bagels (besides the cheese and egg bagels) are vegan?".
So glad you asked. Goldsteins Bagel Bakery recently and abruptly stopped their wholesale business. The Cooler has switched to Brooklyn Bagels and the Marketplace has switched to Bagels from Bread Los Angeles. The new nutritional information is on our website. The Cooler's Chocolate Chip Bagel does not contain any milk, it is made with dark chocolate. However, we're checking on the dough conditioners used in all the new bagels, to make sure they are vegan. Look for more information here soon.
"Hi I wonder if it is possible to make Chow Mein more oftenly [sic]? Thank you~"
We offer some type of Asian noodle dish at least 5 times a week in the Marketplace. We have had requests for more noodle dishes in general, so we're looking at ways to do this without increasing labor (the Monday-Wednesday stirfry stations require two cooks, so we can't expand that concept). This week look for Miso Beef or Soy Beef with Rice Noodles on Tuesday Dinner 10/28 at Homestyle. We're considering making one of the evening specialty stations noodle-centric. Stay-tuned!
"Thanks for offering so many great options for vegetarians and vegans! :) Unfortunately, I do not choose meals that only offer a portobello mushroom (like at Berkus dinner) or mushrooms as the only replacement for meat (like the homestyle Gyros) because it's not enough protein to keep me full. I understand that preparing other soy options takes more time, but I was wondering if you could keep this in mind when preparing vegetarian options. Thanks!
We hear you. Vegans are not of one opinion, and there's been an ongoing debate among Oxy's vegans around proteins. We try to juggle and keep most people happy most of the time by providing lots of variety - vegetables, grains, beans, soybeans, meat and cheese substitutes. It's a little exhausting at times, but we're up to the challenge! We often pair up a vegetable with something else high protein (that Mushroom Gyro this week came with Hummus for instance). Here are some things to look forward to next week (10/26) at Homestyle:
- Sunday Brunch: Tofu & Spinach Scramble
- Monday Lunch: Soy Chicken Scallopini with Marinara
- Monday Dinner: Soyrizo Soy Cheese Quesadilla with Mayacoba Beans
- Tuesday Lunch: Soy Beef Sandwich with Orange Cranberry Cole Slaw
- Tuesday Dinner: Asian Style Soy Beef w/Rice Noodles, Turnips, Shiitakes, Carrots & Snow Peas
- Wednesday Lunch: Vegan Dogs, Sauteed Peppers, Tomatoes and Onions with Italian Pasta Salad
- Wednesday Dinner: Soy Lemongrass Chicken with Coconut Sticky Rice and Asian Vegetables
- Thursday Lunch: Sweet & Sour Tofu with Stir Fry Vegetables
- Thursday Dinner: White Bean Cakes with Vegan Ham, Roasted Peppers and Tomato Gravy
- Friday Lunch: Halloween Meal - many vile vegan victuals...
"More spinach in the salad bar please!"
Spinach is so much more expensive than any of the other lettuces at the salad bar that we would have to substantially raise the price of the salad bar to carry it regularly. We hope you enjoy it on the few occasions when it is there, but mostly look for spinach in the deli salad of the day, where we can control the portioning.
"I loved the pumpkin tiramisu!!!! It was perfect!!! There is no doubt that what is made with love inspires people to spread the love. T.M."
We agree, and we sent your love back around to our wonderful bakers :-)
